When longtime Campbell’s customer and friend David Coggins spotted an old herringbone tweed in our shop, originally woven in Shetland wool by Hunters of Brora, the idea emerged to give the pattern another life.

In collaboration with David and his friend Michael Williams, we recreated the original grey and developed a second version in earthy olive, choosing to weave both as Harris Tweed rather than simply reproducing the original Shetland cloth.

Handwoven in the Outer Hebrides from 100% pure new wool, the cloth is a substantial 470 to 500g (standard Harris weight) and 150cm wide. Despite its weight, the relatively loose set of Harris Tweed gives it natural movement, making it a wonderfully comfortable jacketing cloth, rich in texture, colour and character.
